Let’s talk about something that truly matters: The Sickle Cell Society is taking centre stage at Nottingham Contemporary, and they’re here to raise awareness about a condition that doesn’t get nearly enough spotlight – sickle cell anaemia.

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK dedicated to improving the lives of those living with this genetic blood disorder. From advocating for quality care to recruiting blood donors, their work is vital for the UK's 15,000+ people affected by sickle cell. At this pop-up, you’ll get a chance to learn about their ‘Give Blood, Spread Love, England’ campaign, which focuses on increasing ethnically matched blood donations – a lifeline for those with sickle cell anaemia.

This is more than an awareness event; it’s a call to action. The Society’s team will be on hand to explain how you can support their work, whether by spreading the word, signing up as a blood donor, or simply learning more about the condition.
