Pancakes are usually the pudding that sneaks into breakfast. Here they go savoury, four fluffy ones under fried buttermilk chicken and hot honey. Keep a napkin close.

Over in brioche country, the pulled pork comes in maple BBQ sauce with pickled red onions, a fried egg and slaw. The Turkish eggs bring harissa and garlicky yogurt.

The Hustle turns 20 this year, so Hockley's bars, pubs, cinemas and chapels fill with bands, DJs, poets and a parade of samba and stilts. There is a 70-piece orchestra in St Mary's Church, and a line-dancing flashmob going for a world record.

One wristband gets you into every venue. Plan your route, then abandon it at the second pub. That is the tradition!
