Nottingham Contemporary is loading its huge performance space with more than forty makers from around the country, each bringing ceramics, textiles, jewellery, candles, prints and enough creative flair to make your living room feel deeply underdressed. The launch evening throws in live music, food, drink and free cocktails for the first hundred guests, which is basically Black Friday with manners. It is free, lively and a great place to spend money on things you will later justify as “supporting the arts.”

Pete Tong is rolling into Nottingham with Ibiza Classics, the show that lets you relive your clubbing years without having to pretend you enjoy warm lager or queueing for taxis at 3 AM. Massive anthems played by a full orchestra, Jules Buckley guiding the chaos, and a crowd split evenly between people reliving their youth and people realising their knees aren’t what they used to be. It is loud, polished and perfect if you want a night out that feels like a rave but ends early enough for you to actually function the next day.

Wollaton is serving a Festive Afternoon Tea that feels like Christmas wrapped in pastry. You get sandwiches, savoury bites and a line up of desserts that make self control feel optional. The ticket also includes entry to the Natural History Museum so you can stroll past dinosaurs while arguing over who stole the last mini tart. If you want to crank the day up another level, Santa’s Frozen Adventure and the Winter Light Trail are both available as add ons. Perfect for families, couples or anyone who treats December as one long excuse to eat fancy cake.
