Morning! Nottingham’s lining up a weekend of big tunes and even bigger voices. Binks Yard is throwing an outdoor 80s blowout with tributes to Wham, Boy George and Madness. Over at the Royal Concert Hall, Luther’s velvet voice is back for one night only, and Nottingham Arts Theatre is serving Adele’s biggest heartbreak anthems without the Wembley ticket scramble.

Seven hours of pure 80s anthems, tribute acts, live bands and DJs blasting everything from Queen and Fleetwood Mac to Madonna, Bowie and Bon Jovi. Expect big hair, bigger tunes and the kind of singalongs that make you forget you ever left the decade.

With tribute sets to Wham, Madness, Boy George, plus System 80s Live, and Nottingham’s own DJ Fever keeping it spinning, this is basically a time machine disguised as a festival.

The Old Vol is where a village pub meets a bit of theatre. One weekend it’s giant pans of paella and flamenco in the garden, the next it’s Ladies’ Night with butlers in the buff and live music.

Food-wise, they’ve nailed it. Lunch menus start at £20 for two courses, Sundays are made for roasts, and the line-up runs from British comfort dishes to big-flavour plates worth lingering over.

It’s the kind of place where you book a table “for the food” and end up staying for the entertainment.

Naomi Johnson and her live band aren’t just covering Adele songs, they are recreating the whole experience with the voice, the look, the humour and the hair-flicking power ballads that make you want to text your ex.
