Things to do in this week including: Flaming Violins, Boozy Brushstrokes and a Vintage Thrift Sale!
Morning!
This week’s lineup is a wild mix of loud music, paint-splattered cocktails and shopping that might make you rethink your bank balance. The Rock Orchestra is bringing fire, violins and Metallica to the Motorpoint. There’s a hidden cocktail bar serving fish and chips like it’s fine dining, a vintage thrift pop-up where £20 will get you an entire new personality, and a paint night at The Alchemist where the drinks are as strong as your artistic confidence.
It’s one of those weeks where “just one drink” turns into “let’s see where the night goes.”

🗓️ WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK?
🔥🎻 - The Rock Orchestra: Arena of Fire - Metal Meets Mozart
📍 - Motorpoint Arena
📅 - Saturday 11th October
⏰ - 7:30 PM
🎟️ - Tickets sold out on Eventbrite, still available via Motorpoint Arena website
📸 - @nottinghamarena @therockorchestra
The Rock Orchestra is rolling into town with violins, pyros and enough noise to shake the seats loose. Fourteen classical musicians will be thrashing out Metallica, AC/DC, Linkin Park and more, while flames shoot into the sky like the world’s classiest bonfire. It’s dramatic, over the top and absolutely brilliant.
Eventbrite’s already tapped out, but the Motorpoint site still has a few tickets left if you’re quick. It’s not your average night at the orchestra, it’s louder, hotter and way more fun.

There’s a new bar hiding beneath Lace Market Fish Bar that’s turning the humble takeaway into a late-night hangout. Kika Bar blends classic cocktails with comfort food, serving Old Fashioneds, Margaritas and the kind of fish and chips you’ll still be thinking about the next morning.
The lights are dim, the tunes are smooth, and there’s something special about sipping whisky while digging into scampi and chips. It’s relaxed, cheeky and just what the city centre needs.

Vintage Folk is back on campus and they’ve brought enough vintage gear to restyle half of Nottingham. We’re talking rails stacked with 80s jumpers, 90s denim, Y2K jackets and retro workwear all priced between £3 and £20. Card, cash or Apple Pay, whatever gets you to the checkout fastest.
It’s free entry and you can keep coming back throughout the day if you regret not buying that cord jacket the first time. Ideal for broke students or anyone who still dresses like it’s 1999.
🎭 FRESH EXPERIENCES

Grab a brush, order a cocktail and prepare to turn The Alchemist into your own boozy art studio. You’ll be guided step by step to create a masterpiece that may or may not look like the example, depending on how many drinks you’ve had.
It’s relaxed, messy and full of laughs. Come with mates or fly solo and make a few new ones. The hardest part? Not drinking your rinse water by mistake.
